The young lad tonight appeared on Virgin Media’s Six O’Clock Show with his dad David to discuss the amazing year they’ve had.

David told how “it’s not lost” on his family how much Adam’s virtual hug has meant to people during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said the last year has been “overwhelming” but “a privilege” and the worldwide support they’ve received has given them “treasured memories for the rest of [their] lives”.

Adam told how people often ask him for a virtual hug but while he doesn’t carry his original with him, he’s found another away to do it.

He explained that he makes a heart shape with his hands, and gave presenters Ray Foley and Karen Koster a demonstration.

Adam said he’s very proud of his card and what it’s done for people as he gears up to star in his very own TV series and book.

‘A Hug for You’ is a beautifully illustrated picture book based on all of Adam’s adventures.

Inspired by true events, his book tells the story of a little boy with a big idea that came straight from the heart.

Speaking about the book, David said it’s inspired by people they’ve met who’ve taken Adam’s creation and “used it as their signal to connect when we weren’t able to connect in the ways we’re used to”.

He added that it’s important to them to include diversity in the book because they believe “if you can see it you can be it”.

NEW SERIES

David gave an example of an inspirational dancer with a prosthetic leg in the book, who’s character is based on someone they know in real life.

Adam said “it’s really cool” to be the star of the book, which is out now.

The Cork boy also stars in his own animated comedy series called Adam’s Adventure.

The 52-episode series is inspired by Adam’s dreams of going to space.

Ryan Tubridy recently revealed that he is the voice of Santa Christmas in the animated series Christmas special, called Adam Save’s Christmas.

The special episode will air on Christmas Eve.

‘AMAZING ADAM’

Adam gave a virtual hug to Virgin Media viewers before saying goodbye and fans took to social media to share their excitement.

Veronica said: “Thank you @AdamKingIRL for your #VirtualHug on @SixOClockShow, sending one right back to you. Sssh, bought your book for my nephew for Christmas. @rayfoleyshow”.

Another viewer tweeted: “Just what I need on this chilly eve. A dollop of the amazing @AdamKingIRL.

“As always smiling from ear to ear listening to him. Hugs Adam #kids books”.
