It’s a beautiful way to remember an Irish music icon.
A painting of the late, great Sinead O’Connor goes on display this week in a Kinsale café, where it will be sold to raise funds for Kinsale Youth Community Centre, KYCC.
The piece, specially commissioned for the Icons fundraiser by Dublin-based portrait artist Peter ‘Metcalfe’ O’Connor, is one of three that will be sold to keep the centre open for local kids.
The painting will be sold to the first art lover with €2,000 to spend on it and you can check it out in Hannah Barnett Byrne’s colourful café Wild & Tame on Market Street from Friday, October 18th until it’s sold, hopefully before Sineád’s birthday on December 8th.
Two more specially commissioned portraits will be sold before Christmas as part of KYCC’s ‘Icons’ fundraiser.
All the proceeds from the painting (85cm x 85cm) will go directly to Kinsale Youth Community Centre – KYCC on Market Lane, a local registered charity that supports young people through various programmes and activities and offers a safe, welcoming space for youths to meet, grow and connect after school.
