There’s some sad news for collectors and vintage shoppers in Cork today; the Lancaster Quay vintage store Records and Relics is set to close down at the end of next week.
Owners Colin and Eilis, whose shop has been a staple on Washington Street over the last decade, have decided to leave Cork for greener and more Northerly pastures.
“We are moving on with a new business in County Roscommon and this is a time of celebration,” the owners announced on social media, paying tribute to the many friends and connections they have made over the last ten years.
“We’ve met the most beautiful of people, formed great friendships, and leaving Cork will leave an empty hole that will be hard to fill,” they said.
Regulars took to the comments to express their disappointment at hearing the news, recount stories of precious items they purchased in store, and send good wishes to the couple.
So, what’s next for the entrepreneurial pair once the River Lee is in the rearview mirror? They are planning something completely new in Castlerea, where they have set up a mobile sauna looking out onto the lakes of Roscommon, as well as a glamping business.
If you’d like to head into Records and Relics to nab yourself some final bits before they pack up the shop, note that the final day of trading is Saturday, June 3rd when there will also be a Goodbye Sale.
