RTE viewers praised “bubbly” Cork singer Lyra on Late Late Show as they said she’s a “breath of fresh air”.

Laura McNamara, better known as Lyra, performed her new single that came out today, Lose My Mind, on the Late Late Show tonight and received a brilliant reaction.

The beautiful singer told Ryan after her performance: “I’m so nervous, I couldn’t even hear you.”

Viewers “loved” Lyra’s performance and her personality too.

Tina tweeted: Loved @thisislyra a delight to listen to .. a breath of fresh air #LateLateShow

RTE viewers were also shocked by the Irish singers accent as she chatted to Ryan after her performance.

Colm said: “Never heard someone sing and speak so different in my life but what a talent!


“I genuinely love @thisislyra … what a breath of fresh air.”

The Cork native talked about performing since she was a tot and said: “Our stage in our house was the fire place, and you couldn’t get me off it.

“That’s where I was most of the time.

“Playing the tin whistle or yelling my lungs off, one or the other, I always done it.”

The 26-year-old expresses herself wearing somewhat daring clothes.


Lyra told Ryan about how this sometimes gets her into awkward situations.

Her suitcase, full of her glamorous clothes, got checked in airport security with her bag and left her feeling “morto”.

She said: “I was thinking ‘Please don’t open the bag… out comes my PVC thigh high boots, latex bra, latex body suit’.

“I was so morto.”

Fans loved her clothes and said: “Lyra is Irelands answer to Lady GaGa with a bit of Kate Bush.

“There is no doubt about it Lyra is destined for the big time Just brilliant stuff.”


The Cork native released her debut single Rabbit in the Headlights in 2016.

Lyra took to her Instagram today to thank her fans for the support of her latest single.

She said: “I just want to say a massive thank you for all your love and support today on the release of my single, lose my mind.

“I’ve literally lost my mind with the amount of support you’ve given me, it’s literally amazing.”

The Irish singer is set to perform at Dublin Castle on New Years Eve alongside Picture this and embark on a tour next year.
