LEGENDARY RTE broadcaster Mike Murphy has said that he had a “go at” Taoiseach Micheal Martin as he felt “bashed about” after he had to cancel his holiday.
The TV presenter said that he wouldn’t cocoon again and he also revealed that he bumped into the Taoiseach and he gave out to him.
Mike appeared on Brendan O’Connor’s RTE Radio One show today along with his Takes 2 podcast co-star John Banville to chat about their latest project.
Before Mike appeared on the radio Brendan had been speaking with the Taoiseach and Mike revealed that he had actually bumped into Micheal in the RTE studios.
The former Winning Streak presenter explained: “As a matter of fact, when I was coming in here I happened to meet the Taoiseach he had been on here with you so I had a bit of a go at him.
MIKE AND MICHEAL
“I told him we were meant to head for Italy tomorrow and we cancelled and now we’re doing it in the best of spirits to be like everybody else and to be generous and all that kind of stuff.
“I’m kind of feeling a bit bashed about.”
Mike then went on to say that he told Micheal that he had staycationed in Ireland but that he wanted to experience a sun holiday.
He continued: “It’s just been taken off the darn green list that’s what I’m saying, that’s why I had to cancel it.
“I’m just saying we did cancel our holiday in Italy at cost and I was telling him that we did go on a couple of staycations, that horrible word, around Ireland to beautiful places including west Cork, by the way, beautiful places but the weather was awful.”
Mike also spoke about cocooning and he said that he wouldn’t “willingly do it”.
He also said that it is different for his co podcast presenter John Banville as he was used to cocooning.

The RTE star explained: “It’s different for John Banville because his whole life is cocooned because he just goes and writes books all the time.
“He just goes down stair sits at the desk and cocoons anyway.
“But yes I am not going to willingly do it.”
