This new series will star Kathryn and her daughter Ellie as they take their campervan to places like Cork, Mayo, Sligo, Wicklow and Kerry to show off the best staycation spots.

The Operation Transformation star has finally made it back to Dublin and she will be filling in for Ray D’Arcy on RTE Radio One for the next couple of weeks while he takes an extended break.

While on the show Kathryn spoke about her trip and she shared a hilarious story as she explained she nearly took the roof of her campervan off.

Speaking on the show, Kathryn said: “Loved the campervan, I wasn’t sure I’d never done it before and we had some craic.

“It was just great to have all of the bits with us, I had her [Ellie] toys, the food and the bed and all that stuff.

TRAVELLING AROUND IRELAND

“But the driving, I won’t lie to you, the driving was slightly stressful and three weeks on the road I still haven’t done a reverse parallel park so I had to go and find big spaces and I had a few hairy moments.”

She then revealed that when she was on Dingle in Kerry she ran into some trouble when she went to park the campervan.

Kathryn explained: “A big thank you to anyone who was in Dingle on Friday and saw me have a slight panic attack because I just had one of those momentary lapses in concentration.

“There was a car park for vans and buses and then I was driving into the car park for cars which has one of those height restrictions.

CAMPERVAN WOES

“Whatever happened was I went to turn in and I would have taken the roof of the campervan clean off but for the fact that people started beeping and waving manically and screaming at me.

“Of course it happened Friday of the bank holiday weekend, the busiest town it seemed in Ireland.

“Then I had to do that over and back reverse blocking up the two lanes of traffic, it took 15 minutes to get out.

“That was probably the levels of stress that I had not felt in a long time.”

Kathryn also spoke about returning home from her three weeks of being on the road and she explained it was nice to be in her own bed again.

She explained: “I’ve been on the road for the last couple of weeks and I won’t lie it was brilliant to sleep in my own bed last night.

“We’ve been travelling around in a campervan and I had done the one job that you should always do before you head off on holidays and that is put clean sheets on the bed.

“Getting into a clean bed was just pure bliss last night.”
