It was the Ringmahon man’s fourth appearance this season after his Premier League start against Watford and heroics in the EFL wins over Norwich City and Leicester City.

He saved two penalties in last week’s shootout against the Foxes to set-up a two-legged semi-final against Arsenal.

kelleher will likely start the Reds’ next two games against Shrewbury in the FA Cup and Arsenal in the League Cup due to Allison being in isolation.

But Liverpool stalwart Van Djik isn’t worried that the club’s number 1 is missing, and says they have a ‘fantastic’ back up keeper in 23-year-old Ireland international after his performance in the draw at Stamford Bridge.

The Dutch centre-back spoke to Sky Sports after spoils were shared with Chelsea at the Bridge.

He said: “Yeah, definitely you know – I’m quite a big fan of him. He’s a fantastic goalkeeper, he’s learning from the best with Alisson [Becker].

“His presence is good; his confidence is good – and he’s good on the ball. He’s making good saves as well – so we need him right now because of the covid cases.

“The first goal he couldn’t do anything about it, and we need him for the next games as a well.”

Former Manchester United player and Sky pundit Gary Neville also heaped praised on the Cork native during the live broadcast.

He added: “He’s been very good. It’s a big ask and a big game to come into.

“I like what the goalkeeper has done, even on simple things like that. He’s looked really composed and quite calm all the way through this game.”
