A much-loved Cork city pub has announced it has closed the doors for good

But Douglas Street bar Nana’s is closing for good after five years in business.

The atmospheric bar, which was named after owner Stephen Hackett’s grandmother, well-known Cork publican Maura Hallinan of the KLM Bar on Lower Glanmire Road, opened in 2018.

Announcing the news on social media, the Nana’s crew said the “time has come for a new venture and we have made the decision to close Nana’s.”

Steve and Sue thanks all their customers for years of support and paid tribute to their staff who “made Nana’s what it was”.

It’s not all bad news for this neck of the woods however, new management is already in place and a new bar is set to open soon.

“Today marks the last day and we wish the new owner every success in the future,” they added.
